Public Property Update 4/25/06

The Water and Sewer Department will be flushing hydrants May 8th through May 12th South of Washington Street and May15th through May 19th, North of Washington Street.

The Water and Sewer Department started jetting sewers in the South end of Oregon and will continue all summer until complete.  It is our intention to document this activity to identify sewers that will require frequent maintenance.
25,467 feet of sewer line has been jetted as of Friday.

Our plan to install water at the frontage road location along Route 64, IDOT is requiring the City to assume the maintenance of the road or completely resurface the road when we finish the project.   Guess-estimates for the resurface would be about $50,000, so I encourage the City to assume the responsibility of maintenance.

I met with CMT and Blackhawk Lumber and Chris is completing his plans for subdivision of the Route 64 and Daysville Road development.  When he installs his sewer and water lines I recommend the City have an agreement to pay additional costs if necessary, to install larger mains than he will require.  As additional development to the South East will require larger capacity mains, the work will have been completed.

When working on the Svoboda Woods Subdivision Phase Two, Rick McCanse suggest a way to drain our Liberty Hill Reservoir.  We will be moving a fire hydrant at this project and at that time we will install a shut off valve that will allow the City to discharge reservoir water through existing water mains, into the storm sewer system.  We will be able to drain 800,000 gallons of water directly to the river and will only require 50,000 gallons of water to be discharged as we have in the past.

The dog park will be closed occasionally for maintenance.  This is required for spraying of weeds and mowing.  We will attempt to do all of our maintenance on Mondays and a sign saying closed will be placed on the Carnation Park entrance.  The park will be closed no longer than necessary.
