Many new streetlights are up and even a few are now working. The new lights, installed with the Washington Street reconstruction project, located East of 3rd Street are now working.  Those installed West of 5th Street should be on very soon. These light poles and fixtures were paid for in part, by donations through the City of Oregon  Streetlight Fund.  This fund was set up in the late 1990's  to replace the aging streetlights throughout the downtown area.  Those who have already donated to the fund can now choose a pole for a plaque (which will be attached to the pole). The plaques will stated who made the donation, and who it is in memory, or honor of.  New donations are encouraged.  Locations are on a first come first-serve basis.  For more information contact City Hall at 732-6321.

Landscaping around City Hall was recently completed.  Harms Landscaping &   Design was contracted to design and install the trees and plants.

The new parking lot between City Hall and Max Media is the McDowell Parking Lot. This entire lot is dedicated to public parking.  A sign describing the rich history of this land was recently installed.  The corner stone from  the now demolished building will be incorporated into the sign area shortly  75% of the funds for the construction of this parking lot as well as the new parking around the coliseum, were paid for my the Illinois Department of Transportation as reimbursements to the City for the Washington Street reconstruction project that is nearing completion.  This $4,000,000 project is approximately one month ahead of schedule.
