Update
June 26, 2007
Karl and I visited Patton Industries in Elmhurst Friday the 15th and negotiated a used Trailer mounted Generator with 5200 hours on the John Deere Diesel engine. This 125 Amp generator will be more than adequate for the City requirements and I was able to purchase the unit for $20,000. This is $10,000 less than initially anticipated. We will install the necessary connection equipment at well #3 and #4 before we have the unit delivered. At the time it is delivered we will receive necessary operation training.
Friday the 22nd Karl and I visited Byron to see the power hookup at their wells and lift stations for use with a mobile generator. We were also able to observe the Byron SCADA monitoring system and the new Decanter tank system for their cannibal system.
Layne & Western have tested our four wells for operation efficiency on the 14th and 15th, and all wells are operating properly. We will do a complete maintenance on one well in 2008.
Details have been finalized for the cleaning of the two 850,000 gallon reservoirs. The work will be completed in the next few months and it will involve sending a diver into the reservoirs to remove sediment from the bottom of the tanks. The cleaning will be done without interruption to service to the customers of Oregon. An inspection of the structural integrity of the tanks will also be performed.
The IEPA sewer extension permit for the Settler’s Ridge subdivision was issued on June 13th. We anticipate the water main extension permit from the IEPA in the next few weeks.
EMC staff has begun turning off water to customers who are delinquent on their payments. While nobody likes doing this, it is the last resort to get customers to pay for the services they have received.
