City of Oregon Public Property Update
January 24, 2006
The City Council approved the water and sewer line extension on Daysville Road to the South East corner of Daysville Road and Route 64. This $350,000 project will provide city service to the area South East of Oregon where there is development being planned. The plan includes annexation of the formerly Koontz property into the City, providing sales tax revenue from commercial properties and fifty residential housing lots. The City plans to start construction of the water and sewer line extensions in early spring and it will coincide with County Highway improvements at the corner of Illinois Route 64 and Daysville Road.
The project includes a water line extension along Route 64 Frontage Road that will provide water with fireplugs to existing business, replacement of the 8” water main on Daysville Road with a 12” water main and tunneling under the Daysville Road and Route 64 intersection providing a connecting point for service to future development South and East of Oregon.
This is an ambitious project that will be paid for with existing capital improvement funds and will require no increase in borrowing or increased fees.
