Message from Mayor Ken Williams:

On behalf of the Oregon City Council welcome to our website.

I believe the following concepts will help move Oregon into the future:

Collaboration: No one individual has all the answers. I know I don't. We have lots of talented folks who can offer ideas and solutions to meet our needs. If elected Mayor I will form commissions that help advise the council. This collaboration will include the best ideas from individuals, other taxing bodies within our community and surrounding communities. An example is Fulton who worked with a private investment group as an economic development tool to rehab their historic downtown buildings. There is also the Greater Rochelle Economic Development Corp who formed a partnership with the community and other taxing bodies to successfully recognize and leverage their assets.

Communication: What we do as a city is important to the community just as what is happening in the community is important to the city. There have been times when the city leadership worked at cross purposes with other organizations because each did not know what the other was doing. The idea that it falls on everyone else to notify the city needs to change. If elected Mayor I will invite community leaders, religious leaders and business leaders as well as other taxing bodies to meet and discuss what we all are doing or planning.

Conversation: For me conversation includes listening. I have heard too often that having a conversation with the city means the city telling us what to do.  If elected Mayor I will start the conversation by listening to what you have to say. Will everyone in the city always be in 100% agreement with what we do? Of course not but I can guarantee we will listen to what you have to say and be respectful of all ideas and opinions.
