City Water and Wastewater Update
August 1, 2006

Environmental Management Corporation has found it necessary to replace the City of Oregon water and wastewater manager and Carl Murbach who is originally form Dixon Illinois will become our new manager.  Carl is highly recommended by a source other than EMC, and he is the manager we need to see us through the upcoming wastewater upgrade project and he will provide the personal attention to City of Oregon residents that has been lacking the past year.

Major planned City water and wastewater infrastructure projects are nearly complete for the summer.  Well 2 is being rebuilt and we hope to have it back on line in three weeks.  We will be replacing the huge shut-off valve in well house 2 that refuses to function properly.  This well repair will be expensive but is the last well to require major maintenance and Oregon should be in excellent condition for many years into the future.

The City has problems with valves at the Liberty Hill reservoir and they are going to require attention.  When the new EMC manager is in place, we will develop a plan to get everything properly repaired.

The City of Oregon will have a special meeting at City Hall at 7pm on August 17th for a presentation of the wastewater update plan.  This will be the detailed plan of what we intend to do and how we will do it which will be submitted to the IEPA for financing.

We have found two additional things to address before our storm sewer separation project can be considered complete.  We are working on a plan for the corrective measures that are going to be necessary to have the City in Compliance with the IEPA.  One problem is obviously an engineering error and another is with the downtown intersection that needs to be combined with IDOT work.
