City Water and Wastewater Plan for 2010
Perform a major maintenance on well 3 at the Coliseum, and the casing will be pulled and repaired as necessary. (Est. $15,000)
Complete the plan for a water main from the Liberty Hill Reservoir to the Fair Grounds Park that will be a loop point for water North of Oregon. It is possible that grant financing will be available to complete this project.
Complete a waste water main from the Fair Grounds lift station to the Stillman Valley Bank. Martin Bush is instrumental in the providing sewer service to everyone North of the Stillman Bank. (Est. $180,000) This project is coordinated with the IDOT Route 2 improvements.
Purchase an additional 200 radio read water meter for installation in 2010. (Est. $40,000)
The sewer plant upgrade will be the major City concern and will require an exceptional effort by management personal, but routine maintenance of the same level as 2009 will continue. It is necessary that the cleaning of sewer lines continues and a plan formulated to keep all equipment and infrastructure in the best possible operating condition possible.
Purchase and have operational a portable screw sludge press (est. $150,000). This is necessary for the 20% of the sludge that remains after semi-annual purging of our bio-solids sewer plant.
Install a SCADA system for the water and wastewater plant ($225,000). This state of the art system is necessary to monitor all motors and pumps in the Oregon facility.
MDES will provide the City with a budget; capitol improvement plan and a maintenance plan for future requirements. It has taken one full year to establish operating cost expenses, and now we have the information necessary to make long rang plans.
The department will acquire a new maintenance vehicle to replace our worn out dump truck (Est. $20,000)
