Accomplishments of 2009

The  MDES (Municipal Design and Environmental Services) management consisting of Tom Glendenning, Supervisor, Dave Kent, Oregon Plant Manager, Jeff Pennington, Oregon Plant Forman and Matt Schnorr, operator, have taken over and now have the Oregon water and wastewater plant operating properly.

An additional 300 radio read water meters have been installed along with five commercial meters replacing privately owned meters that were not working properly.

Major storm water violators have disconnected from the City sanitary sewer system eliminating major contributors to illegal discharges into the Rock River.

E. D. Etnyre and Co, and Dave Martin properties have connected to the Oregon watewater gravity system East of Oregon, and are now paying wastewater fees.

GIS mapping of the City infrastructure is complete and all information is being installed in a software program that will be readily available whenever necessary.

A concentrated effort was made this year to properly maintain our sewer system.   Over 40,000 feet of sewer have had the roots cut out and been jetted clean.  This will be a dramatic improvement with possible sewer back-ups.

The wastewater upgrade contract has been won by Sjolstrom & Son’s Construction of Rockford Illinois, and construction will begin in 2010.
