ACCOMPLISHMENTS 2006
CITY OF OREGON WATER AND WASTEWATER
ACCOMPLISHMENTS 2006

The City completed the chlorination conversion from gas to fluid at the wastewater plant.

The City completed a water main extension on Water Street and installed a much-needed fire hydrant.   A water line was also extended to the Dog Park at this time.

The City extended a sewer line to the Svoboda Development along Mix Street and replaced a manhole at 7th Street and Jackson Street.

The City completed a major construction project of paralleling the 8-inch water main along Daysville road with a 12-inch water main and extended an 8-inch water main along Frontage Road.  Fire hydrants were installed as necessary and service is now available to commercial businesses on Route 64 East.   Both water and waste water mains were extended under the highway to provide service for future development South of Route 64 East.

The City disassembled and rebuilt well #2 located at the City Hall and now all four wells have been rebuilt and improved over the past four years.  Our water supply system is in excellent condition and should require nothing more than routine maintenance.  After a one-year pause, a one well per year disassembly for maintenance will be conducted.

Working with EMC, CMT and the City the Wastewater Upgrade plan has been accepted by the City Council with a unanimous vote.  The 3.5 million dollar project will begin in 2007 with completion in 2008.  The upgrade will all but eliminate our sludge disposal problems and our plant will operate with the latest technology available.  All mechanical items such as motors, pumps and blowers will be new and will provide reliable service for a minimum of 20 years and more than likely 40 years.  Our wastewater plant operates at half capacity and has the capability of adding 1000 homes to our system.   The project is being constructed with a loan from the IEPA and will be paid for with existing Public Property Capital Improvement funds.
